![]() | I, Lesley Bailey, have been involved with purebred dogs for over 20 years. My introduction to Labs was a black female puppy named "Fang", a stray that my younger sister and I brought home while camping with my family when I was six. It was heartbreaking when my parents told me they located the owners, an area resident couple, and I had to give the pup back. I never stopped wishing for a Lab of my own, although I knew it was not possible living in a household with a family member who had allergies. I grew up with the non-shedding Yorkshire Terriers. My love of animals prompted me over the years to work at a local riding stable and as a volunteer veterinary assistant. |

My life-long
dream of owning a Labrador was fulfilled when I purchased my first Labrador, a
nice black female puppy, "Sharona's Sweet Dream O'Rayne" in 1997 with
the intention of showing her. I instantly fell in love with "Rayne's"
sweet, loving ways, intelligence, and happy, out-going nature --- a wonderful
companion indeed. I joined the Labrador Retriever Club of Manitoba and the National
club early on to learn more about my new venture and connect with Lab people across
the country. I am also a member of the Canadian Kennel Club. |

In 2000, a second black Labrador came to live with us, "Champion Sharona's Dream Catcher". "Catcher" was shown exclusively by her previous owner/breeder, and successfully attained her Canadian championship whilst still a puppy. Both Rayne and Catcher are sired by English Show Champion Davricard Bobby Shafto. A big thank you to Sharon Bittner-Graves (Sharona Kennels, Yorkton, Saskatchewan) for these much -loved girls! We are pleased to announce that we have a new addition to our family, "Chablais Fleur de Rayneriver", out of "Ch Swentina's Prestige Essens" and "Multi BISS Chablais Olivia"! "Daisy" is showing great promise as a youngster with her pretty, feminine looks, charm, and eager-to-please attitude. Born December 13, 2005, watch for her to be hitting the shows later this spring! We are grateful to Jean-Louis Blais and Madeleine Charest of the renown Chablais Kennels, Quebec, Canada for allowing us the privilege of owning this outstanding, typey bitch. |

Another handsome young fellow who has been getting all the looks since he "stole the show" at our wedding in September 2002 while leading the wedding party up the isle is "Rayneriver's Clint Eastwood", one of our homebred babies! "Rowdy", as we affectionately call him, continues to bring joy and companionship to his wonderful new family. We cannot thank Adam, Sue and Cameron enough for their compassionate, loving care in looking after our special boy. Your heart will melt with just one look at "Rayneriver's American Thunder" aka "Thunder". Our dreams continue to come true with the arrival of this handsome guy out of Rayne's March 2004 litter! Sired by "Hadleigh's The Scarecrow", his grandsire is the impressive Fin. Champion "Loresho Ozzie", producer of many champions nationwide! American Thunder has the bone, coat, substance, correct angulation and level topline that we have been striving for here at Rayneriver --- not to mention a gorgeous head with lovely expression and outstanding temperament! He is no doubt going to follow in the "paw" prints of some pretty amazing dogs, and we are hopeful that he will join the quest of taking the Rayneriver breeding program to soaring heights! Watch for continued updates for when our Thunder "takes to the road" and makes his debut in the ring later this year! It may very well be the ride of a lifetime!!! |

![]() | Rayneriver Labradors was established in 2001 when Rayneriver became a CKC-registered kennel name to facilitate a breeding program dedicated to producing sound Labradors of the highest quality for show, obedience, field, and devoted family companions. We are a small, family-oriented kennel situated on a beautifully treed acreage within the town of Anola, Manitoba (just outside the City of Winnipeg), in the heart of the Canadian Prairies, and promote protecting and improving purebred dogs and the individual breeds by following rules, regulations and the breed standard for the Labrador Retriever, as outlined by the Canadian Kennel Club. |
| Although
at the present time we enjoy competing with our dogs in the confirmation ring,
our involvement with this magnificent breed in terms of showing is one of our
hobbies, as is our breeding program. We are grateful to all our friends in the
dog world who have helped and supported us along the way. We are hoping to continue
with obedience work in the near future when we can schedule more time to devote
to training. Our primary objective to showing is to have fun out there! We believe
that it should be an enjoyable experience for all of us. |

| Our dogs are first and foremost loyal companions and cherished members of the family. Their favorite place is out at the family cottage swimming in Falcon Lake and retrieving the bumper and sticks off the dock. They love going for leisurely walks through the wooded trails with their canine cousins, "Lucky" and "Panda". All of our dogs reside in our home; they even sleep in our bedroom with us! God has blessed us with companions so wonderful and loving. We are thankful to be able to share our lives with them. |
| Thank you for your interest and visiting Rayneriver. We hope you enjoyed your stay. If we can be of assistance with respect to your puppy search, or if you would like to come and see the puppies (when available) and meet the "mom's", please feel free to contact us. And please be sure to check back with us often, as we are continually updating our site with news and adding to our photo pages! Don't forget to sign our guestbook before you leave; we'd enjoy hearing from you! Your comments and suggestions are welcome. |
